Services and Pricing
there is somethingfor everyone
We cannot possibly list EVERY technique we practice, but a short description of our most popular techniques follows our price list. Our pricing is done according to time. Some techniques require more time (deep tissue, hot stone, Ashiatsu all require ninety minute sessions). When you purchase a massage on line you will only need to know the amount of time you are purchasing. When you are ready to make your appointment, you will need to tell us if you are requesting a specific technique so that we book you with the right therapist.
A word on purchasing Gift Certificates: Don't sweat the details! You choose the amount of time that fits your budget, and let the recipient make the rest of the decisions. You don't need to know what kind of massage they like, or make the actual appointment for them. In fact, we discourage ambushing anyone with a surprise massage! If you want to give the recipient the most options, go for the ninety minute massage, as ANY treatment type is available at this level.
A quick note on the Six Pack Savings Bundle: Many people purchase a Six Pack and use all six sessions themselves. It's a great way to save money when you know that regular massage is in your future. Others buy a Six Pack and give all six as a gift. Some folks share their Six Pack with friends and family. We've even had bosses purchase a six pack or two for their very lucky employees. However you slice it, a Six Pack is the best way to save!

A few brief descriptions of our most popular techniques
- ashiatsu
- Ashiatsu is a form of deep tissue massage. The therapist uses bars overhead for balance and applies deep compression with her feet. This technique is perfect for cyclists, runners, dancers, really any athlete who loves deep tissue work. No, you will not be crushed. The therapist is able to moderate pressure from zero to full body weight using the overhead bars. We are proud to be the FIRST Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy provider in Kansas City!

- six pack
- Buy a bundle of six massage treatments all at once and save! Use them all yourself, or share with friends in the form of gift certificates. Man, what a way to be popular AND thrifty! Also, this has made many a boss popular with the peoples!
- deep tissue
- The therapist uses elbow, knuckles and forearms to press into deep layers of muscle tissue. You can't hurry love; likewise muscle. Deep tissue work requires a 90 minute appointment.
- hot stone
- Smooth basalt stones are heated to around the temperature of your latte. In the Solaris Massage version of Hot Stone massage, we use these stones to heat both our hands and ultimately as a tool to massage your body. Warm muscles=pliable muscles, so we can accomplish more in our short time together. The nature of this treatment requires a 90 minute or two hour treatment.
- cold stone
- Chilled stones help chill out post-event muscle fatigue. This treatment is recommended the day after a marathon, triathlon, etc. You may choose a 60 or 90 minute treatment.
- fire & ice
- Hot and cold stones alternate to help muscles recuperate after an athletic event. This treatment is recommended two to three days post event. Your choice of 60 or 90 minute treatment.
- trigger point
- We describe a trigger point as an area that when pressed (usually for 20 seconds to one minute) produces referred pain, twitching or tingling in an area beyond the point itself. Pressing these points ultimately results in reduced muscle tension and pain. A bit like overloading a circuit until the breaker flips, removing the excess electricity, then resetting the breaker. We don't find trigger points in all clients, but when we find them, it is our job to help them reset. Available in all time frames.
- reflexology
- The theory is that by effecting the part we effect the whole. Reflexology maps exist for hands, feet and ears. Our goal with reflexology is the same as our goal for the whole body: improved flexibility and range of motion. If we find stiff areas on your hands or feet, we want them to move fluidly. We could follow a map, but we prefer to look at the landscape. Available as part of any treatment, or as a stand alone half hour treatment.
- aromatherapy
- Things which smell good can make you feel good. Our default massage cream is unscented. We use Blooming Lotus blends to enhance our space and occasionally on your body. Aromatherapy is a part of every treatment and is at the discretion of the massage therapist. Please let us know if you prefer no fragrance, or have any specific aversions.
- myofascial release
- This technique aims to engage large areas of muscle and stretch the tension out of them. We want the various layers of muscles to move freely over one another. Kind of like the pages of a wet magazine, your muscles can get stuck together. Myofascial release is more subtle than deep tissue, but many feel just as effective at releasing tension and resetting trigger points. This technique is often a part of many treatments within any time frame.
- sports
- Quick jostling movements get overused muscles moving and re-energized. Good for muscles that have recently been active and need help flushing fluids through the system.
- cranio sacral
- A very subtle method of assisting the body to readjust itself. A cranio-sacral treatment is a very specific set of protocols. We can incorporate some of these techniques in your massage, or we can recommend a therapist who can perform the more specific protocol. While this is not technically an energy therapy, it is also not at all like a standard massage. It is more correctly called bodywork.
- couples massage
- Two people, two therapists, one room = a couples massage. Many first time clients find comfort in bringing a friend. Skeptical at first, we have to admit there is something even more relaxing and quiet when there are four people in the room all for the purpose of tuning out. This service is available in one hour and ninety minute treatments.
